Redrow plots North West expansion with £360m boost for region’s housing stock

Housebuilder Redrow is set to deliver almost 1,200 new homes in the North West as part of a plan to expand in the region.

The Welsh company is currently working on four developments with a combined value of nearly £360m.

The largest of the schemes is a project to build 850 properties on a 77-acre site next to its divisional headquarters in Daresbury, near Warrington.

Redrow also has plans for new phase of 107 homes at Woodford Garden Village in Greater Manchester, and a further 77 in Sandbach.

At Allerton Priory in Liverpool, Redrow will build 160 new homes on a 16.3-acre site.

Redrow said that with the Home Builders Federation estimating each new home to support an average of 4.3 jobs, the four developments could eventually sustain over 5,100 jobs – through direct on-site employment, indirect employment in the supply chain or induced employment through residents and builders spending money locally.

Redrow Homes’ North West managing director, Paul Moore, said: “Between them these four schemes will provide almost 1,200 new homes and what’s particularly exciting is that the vast majority of them will be built close to our divisional offices, giving the entire team the opportunity to watch the development progress.

“The project here in Daresbury will also include expansion to the science park providing 15,000 sq m of high tech office and innovative space plus a 3,000 sq m new local centre.”

He continued: “Creating new communities is a key element of what we do and we will be investing around £8.5m in the Daresbury area. This includes a £4.3m contribution to the Daresbury Expressway infrastructure and almost £2m towards public open space.”
