Francis W Group eyes future growth with new Darlington warehouse
Francis W Group, a construction company, is laying its foundations for future growth by expanding into new warehousing space at Lingfield Point in Darlington.
The rapidly growing company has taken on a 5,000 sq ft warehouse as part of a substantial investment in the company.
Francis W Group is the latest firm to join Lingfield Point’s growing community. The move is part of an investment in its workforce and capabilities, allowing the company to provide a wider range of services to its clients.
Francis Ward, director of Francis W Group, said: “We’re expanding as there is a lot of construction work taking place in the region and we want to capitalise on it.
“We’ve recently purchased an asphalt and resurfacing company which included employing its staff and we needed a bigger space to accommodate our growing team.
“Lingfield Point offered exactly what we wanted. We’ve found a really great unit here - it’s spacious, has great access and the site is very secure with CCTV and automatic number plate recognition.
“The unit is spacious enough for both companies and our equipment and the site offers everything we could need - including a great canteen.”
The company has recently doubled its workforce and is about to take on four apprentices. The investment in apprentices and its commitment to staff training is part of the company’s response to a significant skills shortage in the sector.
In February, the Construction Industry Training Board released figures indicating 150,000 construction jobs are set to be created over the next five years.
Chris Howard, also director of Francis W Group, added: “We recognise the need to build skills for the future and we’re about to take on four new apprentices and envisage even further growth of our team and subcontractor supply chain.”
Francis W Group Ltd incorporates Francis W Construction Ltd and the newly formed Francis W Groundworks Ltd.
