Can London become the 'most active' city in the UK with this new initiative?

Health and wellbeing provider, Westfield Health, and physical activity experts, London Sport have confirmed a new three-year partnership starting today (April 4).

It aims to support the health and wellbeing of Londoners through workplace-led interventions, and forms part of a cross-organisational commitment to enhancing wellbeing by targeting London’s working population.

With the country’s largest working population, improving employee health and wellbeing across the capital presents a clear opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of millions, both in the workplace and in daily lives.

Together, London Sport and Westfield Health are aiming to enhance and build the existing evidence-base around workplace interventions, creating clearer and more efficient interventions for employers to support their own workforces.

Rob Smyth, London Sport’s commercial director, said: “This new partnership represents an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of thousands of Londoners.

“London Sport is committed to identifying and advocating for new and innovative ways to improve the lives of Londoners through increasing levels of physical activity, and working with Westfield Health to enhance initiatives that support London’s working population will have a significant impact on people’s lives across the capital.

“Bringing together Westfield Health’s leadership in wellbeing with London Sport’s expertise in physical activity and sport promises to create an exciting new frontier in our vision of making London the most physically active city in the world.”

London Sport’s director of insight and performance, Tim Copley, added: “Applying research-led approaches is vital to the workplace health agenda, and I am truly excited by what we can achieve through this partnership.

“By putting research and insight at the heart of our work together, I believe we can make a real difference to the ways in which good workplace interventions are understood and implemented among London’s biggest employers.”

Dave Capper, Westfield Health’s commercial director, concluded: “We’re very excited to announce that we are London Sport’s first commercial partner, supporting their goal of making London the most active city in the world.

“Over the next three years, we expect to demonstrate together how we have supported the health of Londoners and have had a real impact on their business performance through supporting their health and wellbeing.”
