Words of wisdom as new manager appointed at Hull care home
A Hull care organisation has appointed a new manager at one of its care homes, following the retirement of a long serving staff member.
Adam Ward, from Hull, has succeeded Ida Smith as Elm Tee Court’s manager. Ida worked for the Hica Group, which operates Elm Tree Court, for 25 years before retiring.
Adam joins Elm Tree Court after previously working as the manager at the Hica Group’s Woodlands care home in Driffield.
Before stepping down from her role, Ida gave Adam some encouraging words of wisdom, and said: “Be visible, ensure the residents are the focus behind everything you do and continue the good work you did at the Woodlands.”
The newly-appointed manager at Elm Tree Court has been with the Hica Group for a year but has over a decade of experience in a range of health and social care roles, including management, recruitment and audit management.
Adam said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Elm Tree’s manager and I am really looking forward to doing the best I can in this role and maintaining the high standard of care for residents.
“I will always remember the advice Ida gave me about ensuring residents are the focus behind everything I do. It’s actually one of the best things about my role, seeing the residents happy, living the best life they possibly can and knowing that Elm Tree Court staff have played a key part in that.”
Penni Brown, chief executive of the Hica Group, said: “Adam has a wealth of experience within healthcare roles, along with a naturally caring disposition and a passion for his work, which makes him a good fit for the role. I look forward to seeing him develop this role, while driving improved standards of care at Elm Tree Court.”
In his new role, Adam will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the care home, which includes overseeing the health and wellbeing of residents, as well as providing support to staff, keeping up to date with training and development and legislation requirements.
