Entrepreneur launches medical kit for new and expecting families
Mum and entrepreneur, Manju Bhatia, has recently launched PoorlyBoo, a new product of essential medicines and remedies new parents shouldn’t be without. PoorlyBoo, a cleverly designed medical box containing 13 carefully selected products, was created after Manju discovered that most of her friends weren’t properly equipped at home to cope with common illnesses that children often get.
When Manju had her first child 5 years ago, babies became the centre of her life. She spent a lot of time with new mums who were going through similar new experiences and their conversations were usually about feeding, nappies, sleeping (or lack thereof) and illness.
The entrepreneur in Manju spotted a huge gap in the market when she realised that many parents were dashing out of the house late at night for remedies like teething gel or ibuprofen when their babies and toddlers were struck with common colds, stuffy noses, tummy aches, and teething pains. She thought, ‘Why aren’t most parents prepared for dealing with common illnesses with new babies?’
Manju said, “It was in my day to day experiences with my friends and other new mums, an idea was born. A PoorlyBoo box means you have essentials on hand when you need them the most. There is no need to pop to the chemist in the middle of the night if you are well equipped, and new parents might even get a bit more sleep!”
A PoorlyBoo box medical box contains essentials including vapour rub, teething gel, sudocream, nappy rash ointment, paracetamol, ibuprofen and more.
Manju said there are challenges of running her own business and being a mum. She said: “I have to plan my time more effectively and efficiently to get everything done. I have become a master of changing ‘hats’ – from Chief Operating Officer to Chief Entertainer – but I’m becoming an expert at time management.” Since launching PoorlyBoo last year, Manju has seen the business grow from strength the strength. The medical box is complemented by a first aid box and contains 100 pieces of first aid kit for travel, car, home, or work. It includes an ice pack, thermal blanket, tweezers, scissors, bandages, plasters, and lots more.
