Hull care home celebrates 20th anniversary

A Hull care home that provides care for older people and people with dementia has marked its 20th anniversary.

Raleigh Court welcomed the families of their residents, as well as members of the community who had shown their support to the home, to help celebrate its 20th anniversary while also marking national Care Home Open Day.

To mark the anniversary, the home held an afternoon tea so that everyone could come together and share their memories and experiences from over the years.

When the home first opened in 1998, residents and staff buried a time capsule, with an assortment of things from the year.

Raleigh Court manager, Katie Daysley was keen to make it a longstanding tradition, and encouraged residents and staff to make one that would mark their 20th anniversary.

Items included: a list of current staff and residents, photographs of activities, a copy of their CQC report and awards they’ve won, as well as press cuttings from their local paper.

Katie said: “Everyone really enjoyed coming together to celebrate our 20th anniversary. It was great to be able to invite family members, and members of the community to celebrate the occasion with us.

“Residents really enjoyed choosing items to put in to the time capsule.”

Penni Brown, chief executive of the Hica Group, which operates Raleigh Court, said: “Raleigh Court has a great team of staff, who are passionate and caring, and always willing to go the extra mile.

“Providing this level of care for 20 years is a big achievement, and it’s great to see that so many people came together to mark the occasion.”

The Hica Group operates a portfolio of 15 care homes, five of which are for people with a learning disability, along with two retirement villages. The company also runs Hica at Home, a service providing approximately 11,500 hours of support and care from four regional offices in the North of England.
