Little Angels Day Nursery celebrate first anniversary at Marble Hall with Afternoon Tea

Little Angels Day Nursery, based at Connect Derby’s iconic Marble Hall, celebrated its first anniversary with a special Afternoon Tea for families and members of the local community.

The event, which took place at Marble Hall on Nightingale Road in Osmaston, was attended by the families of the fifty children now on roll at the nursery and members of the local community. They enjoyed an afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes and scones with jam and cream, washed down with tea, coffee and soft drinks.

A whole host of activities took place throughout the afternoon, including a children’s entertainer who created balloon models, free face painting and appearances from Peppa Pig and Chase and Skye from popular cartoon Paw Patrol.

Parents were also invited to have a tour of the nursery and meet members of the Little Angels management team, headed up by Natasha Meehan.

Since its official launch in April last year, Little Angels Day Nursery has gone from strength to strength. Occupancy levels have continued to rise, which has enabled the business to recruit another full-time member of staff and a new apprentice. The nursery now employs ten members of staff and caters for 50 two to four-year-olds.

Based on the iconic former Rolls-Royce building in the Osmaston area of Derby, Marble Hall was the subject of a major refurbishment in 2016 to transform it into a £4 million community hub.

The nursery complements the facilities at Marble Hall, which includes a vibrant business centre and Claude’s café, operated by YMCA Derbyshire.

The Marble Hall site is the second Little Angels nursery in Derby - the first nursery based at Osmaston Park Community centre was launched just over four years ago.

Commenting on the anniversary celebrations, Natasha Meehan, manager of the nursery at Marble Hall, said:

“Thanks to everyone who came along to our first anniversary afternoon tea and to everyone at Connect Derby who has supported us since we’ve been at Marble Hall.

“As well as providing vitally needed childcare services for local families, we’re very proud of the fact that the new nursery has created eight new jobs.

“Our afternoon tea was a really fun event, with lots to keep the children busy and parents and guardians able to find out more about our nursery in a relaxed, informal setting.”

Ann Bhatti, head of Connect Derby, added:

“The addition of a day nursery to the facilities here at Marble Hall has provided a massive boost to tenants, local businesses and the local community.

“The nursery is a really fabulous environment - the brilliant staff and facilities are supporting young children in their day-to-day learning, hitting milestones and generating independence – at the same time as having lots of fun!”

Helen Turner, owner and manager at the nursery, said:

“I’d like to thank the staff and children for all their super hard work in preparing the cakes for the party. It was a great success and we all had lots of fun.”

Marble Hall is part of Derby City Council’s Connect Derby £30m portfolio of managed workspaces, which has created a strong market for mixed use and sector specific serviced offices across the city at its six other buildings – Friar Gate Studios, Sadler Bridge Studios, Riverside Chambers, Kings Chambers, Shot Tower and the iHub innovation centre at Infinity Park.
