World's hottest chilli takes centre stage at upcoming Chilli Carnival
With two weeks to go, organisers of the upcoming Chilli Carnival have completed their mission to source the world’s hottest chilli to feature in its Chilli Eating Competition.
To be in with a chance to win a cash prize and suitably-spicy chilli inspired hamper as part of the weekend-long event, Bond Events Group is calling for brave members of the public to partake in the Chilli Eating Competitions as part of the festival at the Bombed Out Church.
Contenders will be challenged to sample eight rounds of chillis, with each getting progressively spicier before taking on the final round of the Carolina Reaper – officially the world’s hottest chilli at a scorching 1,569,300 on the Scoville scale – which was flown in exclusively from Australia for the occasion.
Director of Bond Events Group Jay Ogugua said: “The countdown is officially on for the Chilli Carnival and we are incredibly excited to share this event with the public after months of hard-work and planning, sourcing the very best suppliers and entertainment to make the weekend spectacular. The highlight for us will of course be the Chilli Eating Competition which will see one brave competitor tackle a number of chilli peppers for an enviable prize.
“We have already had fantastic feedback from the public who are keen to get involved, but we still have spaces available for those who think they can take on the infamous Carolina Reaper, the world’s hottest chilli that has made its way to us from across the world in Australia! Here at Bond Events Group, we are big fans of all things spicy but only the bravest connoisseurs will be able to tackle some of the fieriest chilli produce around.” The competition will be part of an entire weekend of entertainment, alongside the likes of live music, food and drink and an abundance of stalls and suppliers – all with the chilli pepper in mind.
Senior Events Manager at Bond Events Group Laura Cotter added: “For those who are not at ‘chilli chomping champion’ status just yet, we have plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy alongside a whole host of unique and fantastic things to sample including a range of carefully crafted cocktails from the aptly named ‘Arri-Bar’, serving up all of the classics with a spicy twist including Bloody Mary, Chilli Passion Cosmo Chilli infused gin and Margaritas. For our younger guests, we have a dedicated kids’ area with an assortment of family fun activities taking place.”
