An international Yorkshire welcome: Global Summit to be hosted in Leeds for the first time

ConferenceLeeds, the official Conference Bureau for Leeds, is celebrating Leeds’ ability to attract business from an international audience, as it has been chosen to host the International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty (ISKSAA) signature event, the ISKSAA Global Summit. This is the first time in the conference’s 15-year history that it is being held outside of India, emphasising Leeds’ strength in appealing to an international audience, when competing alongside other strong UK event destinations.

The event will see an estimated 500 delegates attend Cloth Hall Court between 21st – 22nd June 2018, with the aim of sharing knowledge, promoting good practice and inspiring the next generation of surgeons in Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty. Those visiting from abroad to attend can also take part in a visitor programme before the main event, giving them the chance to explore the very best Leeds and the UK has to offer.

The society was keen to bring the conference to the UK with Leeds standing out as a unique alternative to London. Once Leeds was selected, ConferenceLeeds was called upon for its expert knowledge of the city, to help choose a venue. ConferenceLeeds arranged site visits, with the society selecting Cloth Hall Court at Leeds Beckett University, as it offered the ideal location to host world leading talks with its academic roots.

Sanjeev Anand, Congress President at ISKSAA, commented: “We are extremely excited to be taking this event outside of India for the very first time! We were very eager to bring it to the UK, and Leeds was an ideal choice. It is a beautiful city, extremely well connected and offers excellent academic venues, which we were keen for the conference to be held in, in order to reflect the world-class speakers and demonstrations on offer. The team at ConferenceLeeds was extremely helpful; as this is the very first event overseas, we want it to be perfect, and with ConferenceLeeds’ help, it’ll be just that.”

Jennifer Young, Head of ConferenceLeeds, said: “We’re thrilled that ISKSAA has chosen Leeds to host its very first event outside of India, with this win clearly demonstrating the city’s ability to attract not only national, but international conferences. It also further highlights Leeds’ strong connection with India following an Inward Investment mission to the UK in March 2018 as a result of a partnership between Leeds City Council and Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA).

Furthermore, this event being held in Leeds not only recognises the brilliant sector strength Leeds has in healthcare, but also the ability of Leeds being able to host international events in all dimensions - we look forward to gifting the ISKSAA members a warm Yorkshire welcome to the city!“
