Housebuilder names new Stone development in memory of employee

A regional housebuilder has launched a new development in Stone which has been named in memory of a former employee.

Persimmon Homes West Midlands will build 500 homes at Udall Grange, with 130 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes to be built in the first phase. The development will support more than 2,000 jobs through staff, contractors and the wider supplier network.

Udall Grange, in Eccleshall Road, has been named after former site manager Glyn Udall, who sadly passed away around two years ago.

Stephen Cleveley, director-in-charge of Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “We asked colleagues to suggest a name for the development, and there was huge support to call it Udall Grange. Glyn was a valued member of staff who worked for numerous years in the house-building industry and lived in Staffordshire.

“We have been delighted by the level of interest in the development, which will boast 12 different house styles, including a two-bedroom Alnwick, three-bedroom Hanbury and four-bedroom Roseberry.”

A four-bedroom Lumley showhome is due to be launched this summer.

Stephen added: “This development was proving very popular, even before we launched it; but we are not surprised.

“There is a real need for new homes in this area and we are appealing to a wide cross-section of buyers. It will be ideal for first-time buyers, young professionals and families and will be an ideal development for all ages, as it will provide plenty of open space and footpaths for leisurely walks, plus a football pitch.”

Once Udall Grange is launched, people will be able to buy off-plan, before a single brick has even been laid. Stephen added: ““Buying off-plan means purchasers can secure their preferred property and location within the development. In addition, reserving at this stage means customers can truly personalise their home by choosing from a range of ‘finishing touches’ - fixtures and fittings items such as kitchen units, appliances, waterfall showers, wall tiles and flooring options.”
