Met Gala 2018: Everything you need to know
Luxury guests, a controversial theme, Rihanna, Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace as great hostesses… The 2018 edition of the Met Gala promises to be an unforgettable night!
It is one of the most prestigious events in the fashion industry. All the guests are personally approved by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue.
Models, designers and celebrities are getting ready for the night as speak. and it has been this way for the past two decades and promises to continue for a few more years.
On the red carpet of the event, there are insanely popular attendees, among them Beyoncé, Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian. No one is indifferent to the coordinates they choose, making them the target of the night: everything is scrutinised to the smallest detail. After all, it is fashion that reigns on this red carpet.
So what is the Met Gala?
This event, apart from the glamour experienced, is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It’s such an exclusive gala that tickets cost around $30k for those not invited.
Before being given the name by which we now know it, the Met Gala was known as The Costume Institute Gala and it is in this celebration that the museum’s annual exhibition is revealed. King Kawakubo and Alexander McQueen were two of the creators already honoured.
As the name suggests, the event takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The main street leading to the building is closed and only guests are allowed to pass on May 7, 2018, as usual - on the first Monday of May.
Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, 2018 Fashion and religion will unite in a night that promises to be both memorable and controversial at the same time. The exhibition, which receives the same title, will explore the relationship these two components have had over the last few years.
Creations of Coco Chanel, John Galliano or Cristóbal Balenciaga will be present and will be exhibited with the 40 pieces that the Vatican presented.
In addition to Anna Wintour, in 2018, Rihanna, Donatella Versace and Amal Clooney were the three personalities chosen to be part of the Met Gala honouring party, which in previous years featured Taylor Swift, Gisele Bündchen and Idris Elba.
We can’t reveal the guest list as it is the best kept list in the history of events!
Channel E! will broadcast live the red carpet on the day of the event at 12.30am.
