Synergy to scale Yorkshire’s Three Peaks for children’s vital medical equipment

A team from Synergy Automotive is aiming to conquer the 24.5 mile Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in the 12 hour target to purchase vital equipment for sick children.

A champion of putting something back into its local communities, the award-winning car and van leasing provider is scaling Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough to support Harrogate District Hospital’s Paediatric Outpatient Department.

The company’s latest fundraising drive will enable the department to buy Masimo monitors, which measure pulse and oxygen saturation and are instrumental in providing an accurate diagnosis for a range of conditions. Previous charity challenges, which included a tough 10km ‘mudstacle’, resulted in the department taking stock of a pioneering exhaled nitrous oxide machine which can be life-changing for asthmatic children.

Paul Parkinson, Synergy MD, said: “We continue to be inspired by the tremendous commitment of the staff in the children’s department and wanted to carry on fundraising in the knowledge that we are helping to further enhance the quality of care for patients.

“The cutting-edge Masimo monitors and the accuracy of their diagnosis will make the difference between children being able to take the monitors home rather than stay in hospital.”

Synergy’s recent community campaigns include partnering with Welcome to Yorkshire to collect unwanted bikes for children and their families to borrow free of charge. Exceeding its targets, the initiative was part of the county-wide Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries programme to promote healthy living and social inclusion.
