Oldham contractor grows revenues 47% on contracts with Reel Cinemas and Premier Inn

Leisure contractor Medlock FRB had a record year of sales in 2017, with revenues soaring 47%.

The Oldham-based company’s turnover reached £39.35m in the year to December, up from £26.83m in 2016.

Medlock added to its customer base during the 12 months, securing briefs with new clients including Reel Cinemas, dining chain Hickory’s Smokehouse, indoor golf operator Adventure Leisure and Mosaic Spa & Health Clubs.

The firm also landed repeat business with leisure sector customers such as Premier Inn, Greene King, Mitchells & Butlers and JD Wetherspoon, while regional brewers and pub operators Joseph Holt, JW Lees and Hydes Brewery also returned to Medlock for construction and fit-out projects.

Colin Drury, finance director at Medlock FRB, said: “We are extremely pleased to report that the company has, for the sixth year in a row, achieved an increase in sales.

“Repeat business with our major customers has been a tremendous success, accounting for 74% of the sales total, while our customer base has been strengthened with the addition of further premium brands.”

He continued: “We have made a significant investment in key staff engaged in the project delivery process and will continue to invest in our people in 2018.

“Retaining the best people and developing and investing in them is key to our continued success and we sincerely thank them for their commitment and passion.”

The company has got off to a busy start in 2018. Contracts already completed so far this year include a refurb at Butlins Skegness, a new-build Farmhouse Inn eatery in Ellesmere Port and a new Miller & Carter restaurant in Gosforth, Newcastle.

Colin added: “Although we have had an excellent year we will continue to work hard to drive value whilst trying to consistently exceed our customer expectations in terms of service and quality.”
