Vital Energi Claim Hat Trick at H&V Awards

Vital Energi are celebrating after winning three awards at the Heating & Ventilation News awards which is one of the building services industry’s most high-profile nights and celebrates low-carbon achievements.

Vital claimed the Retrofit Project of the Year, Collaboration of the Year and the District Heating Project of the Year… The third time they have won this category in the last four years.

Mike Cooke, Vital Energi’s Regional Director explains “Recognition by The H&V News Awards of the work done in partnership with our clients is an important part of our project delivery cycle. The recognition rewards the innovative design, the highest standards of construction and the successful operation of our low carbon energy networks. Our success relies upon the professionalism, creativity and commitment of our project teams which are formed from our bid teams, designers, constructors, operators, supply chain and support services teams.

District Heating Project of the Year – The University of St Andrews Biomass District Heating scheme Vital Energi worked in partnership with the University to design and build an innovative biomass energy centre and 10.6km district heating network which distributes heat and hot water to their North Haugh campus connecting 37 plant rooms and delivers carbon savings of over 6,000 tonnes per year.

Retrofit Project of the Year - NHS Grampian The project saw Vital Energi install a range of energy conservation measures throughout the hospital’s estates as well as creating an energy link which allowed the Foresterhill Energy Centre to also supply heat and power to the Royal Cornhill Premises, delivering both guaranteed CO2 and financial savings. The project was procured through the Carbon & Energy Framework.

Collaboration of the Year – NHS Tayside Vital Energi worked with NHS Tayside to deliver a Combined Heat & Power energy centre as well as energy conservation measures which included replacing 22,000 light fittings with modern LED units. Vital will be operating and maintaining the energy centre for the next 25 years and the health board will receive guaranteed carbon and financial savings. The project was procured through the carbon and energy framework.
