Cheltenham Racecourse re-establishes itself as a concert venue

A world-renowned racecourse is set to put itself back on the music map as it plays host to a series of concerts and gigs.

Cheltenham Racecourse is aiming to make 2018 the year of music as it re-launches itself as a concert venue after announcing gigs that are booked for the year.

A number of high profile acts across different genres have already been booked throughout the year and it is set to be the beginning of a brand new era of music for the venue.

In the past, Cheltenham has played host to an eclectic mix of big name performers including Stereophonics, Rizzle Kicks, and The Vamps.

Now the venue is set to reignite its impressive collection of gigs and concerts with an array of upcoming events adding new bands and high profile performers to the list.

This year Cheltenham Racecourse has announced it will be welcoming in the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs, Jessie J and The Vamps, who took to the stage on May 6.

They performed as part of the very first PDSA PetLife ’18 Festival, which took over the racecourse with a stage, activity zones, entertainment and a festival feel.

The Dire Straits Experience, the acclaimed live show from former Dire Straits touring member Chris White, is then coming to The Centaur, the same month.

In June The Wychwood Festival is returning to Cheltenham Racecourse for the 14th year running and then Jools Holland and his acclaimed Rhythm Orchestra will be coming back in November.

Lee Moulson, Regional Head of Sales at Cheltenham Racecourse, thinks now is the perfect time for the venue to reintroduce music events for fans.

“We’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to relaunch the racecourse as a music venue and now is the right time,” said Lee.

“Our venue is extremely diverse and we wanted to ensure it was being used to its full potential, which is why we decided to re-introduce gigs and concerts.

“With big events organised for 2018 such as PetLife festival and The Dire Straits Experience booked, we’re excited to add more gigs and concerts to our long list of current events.

“Re-launching music at the venue allows us to showcase the real versatility and flexibility of Cheltenham Racecourse and connect with a whole new audience.

“In the past we’ve had lots of popular acts visit to perform and we look forward to having many more successful gigs from now on.”
