THE BROADWAY ROLLS OUT THE RED CARPET FOR OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF NEW CINEMA

The Light cinema at Broadway Bradford celebrated its official launch on Thursday 10th May with local radio competition winners, representatives from local charities and businesses as well as members of the city council and police force.

Founder and CEO of The Light, Keith Pullinger, was thrilled with the success of the evening: “We’re extremely grateful for all the local support we have received, it was exceptionally heartening to hear all the positive feedback from those who attended, and we can’t wait to welcome the rest of Yorkshire’s cinema-lovers to The Light Bradford.”

This will be The Light’s tenth cinema in the UK and the second in Yorkshire, alongside Sheffield. The growing popularity of The Light cinemas is down to its unique take on the spirit of traditional, independent cinemas in a modern environment and working with ‘home-grown’ suppliers to offer a truly ‘local’ experience.

Much-admired for their luxuriously designed reclining seats and customers being able to enjoy beverages from the bar and café at the seats – The Light Bradford promises to offer an experience unlike any other in the city. The Light plans to open 20 more cinemas in the next four years.

Ian Ward, general manager of The Broadway, added: “We were delighted to welcome so many members of the local business community and come together to celebrate. The Light is a great addition to Bradford’s growing leisure offer along-side the likes of Sunbridge Wells and The Alhambra Theatre. It will no doubt make the city centre an even more vibrant place to visit, and encourage theatre-goers, tourists and shoppers alike to spend more time here.”

The Light will be showing the latest blockbusters, independent films, live opera, ballet, theatre and classical, rock and pop concerts. It is also able to offer flexibility programming for requests from local communities and societies and to support local film events and productions. The cinema welcomes all groups: it is wheelchair friendly, films can be audio described or subtitled, it is baby friendly, and can ensure that the specific needs of those with dementia or autism are catered for.

There are membership schemes as well; an Infinity pass costs just £16.95 per month and gives unlimited access to films. Customers will have the chance to make the most of the opening offer on Infinity where you can get the first three months at just £12.95 if you join in May.

Film goers can also join the cinema’s free membership scheme MyLight, which provides discounted online prices and regular offers.
