£1m expansion to commence on Teesside Ford Store
Construction work, expected to take up to seven months to complete, will see the existing Cargo Fleet Lane dealership being transformed into a flagship Ford Store - the only one of its kind to be launched in Teesside.
This is only one of 68 currently in operation across the UK. Showcasing Ford’s collection of premium models, the new dealership aims to offer customers a new buying experience, delivered by a fully trained team of dedicated customer managers.
Appointed to design and project manage the development is Washington-based Focus Architecture + Surveying.
Managing director of Jennings Motor Group, Nas Khan OBE, said: “We are delighted to be working on another project with the professional team at Focus Architecture + Surveying, and to announce that work is due to start on site at Middlesbrough.
“These are very busy, but extremely exciting times for the company with a number of future expansion and refurbishment plans in the pipeline for other dealerships across the group.”
The newly constructed showroom will consist of a 3,500 sq ft extension to the existing site, in addition to expanding the layout, which currently accommodates up to a five-vehicle display, into a more spacious 11-vehicle dealership.
Lee Sanderson, director at Focus Architecture + Surveying, said: “The development has been designed with the new Ford Store standards to create a modern 21st century motor retail experience for customers by being more personalised and interactive.
“Located on an already prominent site facing the A66, the new Jennings Ford Store will be a fresh, engaging retail experience for customers, in addition to being a positive addition to the area.”
Throughout the programme of building works, measures have been put in place to ensure minimum disruption to customers.
Nas added: “We would like to highlight to our customers that during the seven-month construction process and programme of works, the company has measures in place to ensure minimum disruption to the day-to-day products, services and facilities we provide, so it will be business as usual.”
Jennings Ford officially opened its Middlesbrough-based dealership in 2000.
The Cargo Fleet Lane ‘super-site’ also operates a Ford Transit centre, a used van centre, in addition to SEAT, and Mazda franchises.
