HeavyHaul makes TotalKare investment to boost workshop efficiency

An Essex-based plant and machinery transport specialist has made a significant investment into supporting its rapidly growing workshop.

HeavyHaul (Chelmsford), which was founded in the early 1970s, has acquired its first set of column lifts from TotalKare to assist it with maintenance and repairs on its 70-strong fleet of vehicles.

The company now has five bays at its Landview House facility and wanted to maximise its efficiency by carrying out more jobs over the course of the week. It approached engineers to understand which product matched its exact requirement and, after a site visit, purchased a set of six T8 Cable Free lifts.

Lee Dyke, Director at HeavyHaul, commented: “We decided on the cable free option due to their manoeuvrability around the various bays in our workshop and the lack of cables prevents any trip hazards for our workers.

“Our fleet of vehicles has to be able to carry anything from a one-tonne mini digger to an 80-tonne piling rig, which means we have a number of tri-axles. Having spoken in detail to

TotalKare, we were advised to purchase a set of six column lifts to distribute the loads of vehicles when lifted evenly as the middle axle is often left unsupported.“

He continued: “By utilising six columns rather than four, we are protecting the vehicles and the mobile column lifts from damage. It’s exactly the solution we needed.”

The contract with HeavyHaul is one of a number of new business wins for TotalKare, which celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2018.

“We’ve had a really strong start to the year, with our ability to offer a host of high-quality, heavy duty workshops solutions, along with mobile options, proving very popular,” commented James Radford, Sales and Marketing Director at TotalKare.

“This has seen us extend contracts with local authorities and pick up new orders with the likes of HeavyHaul (Chelmsford), who are looking for the latest in heavy duty lifting solutions. We hope this is just the start of a long-term relationship that delivers many mutual benefits for both parties.”
