Leeds’ Manahatta restaurant-bar to create 50 jobs with new Manchester venue
A New York-style restaurant and bar is set to create around 50 jobs when it sets up in Manchester city centre this autumn.
Property firm Commercial Estates Group (CEG) secured planning permission and listed building consent for the Manahatta concept at Grade II-listed 196 Deansgate
The venue will be Yorkshire leisure operator Arc Inspirations’ first Manahatta venture across the Pennines. The company currently runs two in Leeds.
The firm’s £1.8m Manchester venue will have 230 covers and occupy 8,000 sq ft across the basement and first floor.
Martin Wolstencrost, CEO of Arc Inspirations, said: “The historical setting of this prominent Deansgate location will offer a fantastic backdrop to our innovative dining and drinking experience.”
CEG investment manager Greg Lacey commented: “The recent multi-million pound investment into 196 Deansgate has delivered high quality workspace as well as unveiling more of the unique historic features of this fabulous building.
“In granting planning permission, Manchester City Council is enabling further investment by a niche operator to bring a vibrant new bar and restaurant, creating around 50 new jobs. And I am confident this will become the most popular venue on Deansgate.”
He added: “We started this venture with Arc Inspirations in November 2016 and I would like to thank all the project team.”
Manchester-based Indigo Planning advised on the application as planning consultant. KPP and GA Studio are the architects on the concept and Gray Scanlan Hill acted on the scheme as project manager.
