£1.5m Normanton business park redevelopment fully let in six months

Harrogate-based property company Marrtree Investments has fully let its newly refurbished 26,000 sq ft business park at Normanton Industrial Estate near Wakefield. The £1.5m Marrtree Business Park scheme, which is set to create several new jobs, was fully occupied within six months of completion.

The six newly refurbished units are now let to global wiring group Nexans Power and roofing and waterproofing specialist Radmat Building Supplies, with auto spares business Euro Car Parts taking the final remaining two units on the site in February.

Now numbering more than 20, Marrtree’s business parks are located on strategic employment sites across the north of England. The developments provide flexible business, warehousing and industrial space in easily accessible locations, including Knaresborough, Doncaster and at the forthcoming 85-acre Sowerby Gateway development close to the A1 in Thirsk.

Marrtree Investments director William Marshall said: “The new site has been an immediate hit with occupiers. Normanton Industrial Estate is extremely well located with the M62 on its doorstep and so, not surprisingly, home to a host of big names including ASDA, Haribo and YESSS Electrical.

“As a Yorkshire business we are tremendously proud to know that we’re delivering quality, modern and flexible space that is helping to create jobs across the region by enabling firms to grow and prosper here.

He added: “Work on our Sowerby Gateway development in North Yorkshire is due to get underway soon and will be completed next year. We expect to be making further site acquisitions across the North during this year.”

Henry King, of property agency Cushman & Wakefield’s logistics and industrial team, which was commissioned by Euro Car Parts to find a suitable site, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to secure this site for Euro Car Parts. The new Normanton premises has enabled the business to expand and to better service their growing customer base.”

Founded in Bradford in the 1940s, and now run by the third generation brothers William and George Marshall, the Marrtree Group of companies has operated for over 60 years. With interests in commercial and residential property, quarrying and forestry, the business is now based in Harrogate.
