New jobs created as Biker Group lands contract on housing development in Harrogate
Biker Group has been awarded a new contract with Taylor Wimpey, one of Europe’s largest housebuilders, leading to the creation of up to 12 new jobs.
The North Yorkshire-based company will carry out the ground works at a new housing development at Harlow Green in Harrogate, with work already underway.
The new development to build 119 homes will see Biker Group complete the foundations, drainage, concrete finishing, hard landscaping and paving.
Biker Group, which is based in Leyburn and Thirsk, is looking to expand its workforce by 12 as the project has created a need for additional ground workers and plant operators.
Taylor Wimpey, which build and sell more than 10,000 homes a year, is a long-standing client of Biker Group and the latest project comes as a welcome jobs boost to the North Yorkshire economy.
Biker Group provides a wide range of services to the construction industry, including haulage, ground works, bespoke joinery, construction, concrete, material handling and waste management.
Expansion over the last four years has seen the firm increase its workforce to nearly 200 and report a 133% increase in annual turnover.
David Phipps, Biker Group’s ground works manager, said: “We undertake work for both public and private sector, but the majority of our projects over the last 40 years have been on a preferred supplier basis for Taylor Wimpey within North Yorkshire and the North East.
“This continuity has been achieved by using our expertise to deliver high productivity levels to meet our clients demanding programmes within budget and to the highest standards. Taylor Wimpey is a long-standing client and we are delighted to start the next project in our association.”
