Transition Event conference attracts exceptional attendance

Chesterfield-based care provider, Heathcotes Group, enjoyed an overwhelming response as a sponsor appearing at the 2018 Transition Event, a conference dedicated to the future of young people with disabilities and associated needs.

Held last week at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, a full day of conference and interactive workshops discussed the various challenges involved in planning and assisting the transition into adult life. Specialising in person-centred residential care for people with learning disabilities and mental illness, Heathcotes Group was one of a variety of organisations providing expert guidance on key issues such as education, health and care plans, social services, employment and housing. The event attracted an extremely high attendance from care practitioners, parents and young people.

Heathcotes Head of Commissioning, Natalia Lysiuk said:

“The high footfall at this year’s Transition Event certainly reflects the value of gathering a comprehensive range of expertise in one place as a collective resource. Enabling the transition to a more independent life involves many considerations, from finding suitable education and employment to ensuring that care plans are transferred at age 18. Addressing these challenges can be daunting and many visitors have welcomed the opportunity to receive vital guidance on all areas of planning. “Supporting this year’s Transition Event as a sponsor has proved to be an excellent decision for Heathcotes. We will soon be opening our first residential care service for children to complement our 60 specialist adult services across the UK. This means that Heathcotes will be able to provide a full care pathway into adulthood, so we also welcomed the opportunity to speak to parents, children and practitioners about their concerns.”

Heathcotes Group has been a trusted partner to over 50 local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups since 2004. Last year the company helped a total of 25 service users to achieve a transition into more independent living.
