Local care force goes green
Agency nursing provider Local Care Force has given its employees the green light and has embraced electric by investing in a trio of new electric company cars.
The company, which has city centre offices in Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield, has purchased a pair of Golf GTE hybrids and a Suzuki Swift hybrid to be used as pool cars, enabling them to reduce and control the omissions from the business which works with clients across the whole of Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire.
Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield have all recently been named as some of the most polluted cities in the UK and Local Care Force is doing everything it can to encourage its staff not to drive into the city centres and to consider the environment. In addition, the business has also purchased reusable coffee cups with twin wall insulation for every member of the team and is also investing heavily in a new database enabling them to move towards becoming paperless.
Leanne Silverwood Managing Director of Local Care Force, said; “Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester where our offices are based have all been highlighted by the World Health Organisation as some of the most polluted cities in the UK. The number of cars on the road is the main cause in cities and we cover a lot of miles visiting clients, so this is a small step by Local Care Force to counteract that.
“I was also inspired by the new Clean Air Zone introduction in Leeds City Centre where our HQ is based. and realised we could actually make a difference by investing in the electric cars. And when calculating the cost of going green, we discovered that they are going to be more efficient to run and cheaper to maintain for us as a business and so it really is a win win.”
Established in 2004, Local Care Force supplies workers to the nursing, healthcare and social care sectors and is the preferred supplier of many large private, public and charitable organisations, providing temporary and permanent staffing solutions, including qualified and specialist Nurses through to Carers and Support Workers. Local Care Force has over 50 employees and over 1800 staff working for them.
