Plans submitted for 100,000 sq ft development at Doncaster's Parkside Business Park

St. Modwen, the property developer and regeneration specialist, has submitted a planning application for the third and final phase at Parkside Business Park in Doncaster.

The application is for more than 100,000 sq ft of industrial space across three buildings.

In addition, construction is also underway on the second phase of the development which comprises 60,000 sq ft of industrial space shared across two buildings.

Due for completion in mid-August this year, the second phase units have also been designed to be further split to offer flexible warehouse space from 10,709 sq ft to 31,462 sq ft.

Work on the second phase of the development followed the letting of phase one units to German businesses DB Schenker and Bosch Automotive.

DB Schenker, a freight and infrastructure service provider, is now fully operational from their unit, with Bosch Automotive, a supplier of automotive technology and servicing, opening its flagship Northern facility in July.

Rob Richardson, senior development manager at St. Modwen, said: “It is great to see our two new buildings reach an important construction milestone and we can now look forward to completion at the end of August.

“Our decision to submit planning on our third and final phase was driven by our strategy of increasing our industrial development programme but backed by the very encouraging levels of interest we have in our two new buildings”.

Sophie Angus of joint agents CBRE commented: “These latest two buildings at Parkside will be the only newly developed buildings of this size in the South Yorkshire market this year and with an acute shortage of new and second-hand buildings the interest we are receiving is high”.

Ed Norris of CPP added: “We have worked closely with St. Modwen and their design team to ensure these two new buildings and the recently submitted third phase, will fill the evident gap in the market for 20,000-50,000 sq ft industrial space, and that they are also designed to provide the versatility for both manufacturing and urban logistics type users”.

Bill Mordue, Doncaster Council cabinet member for business, skills and economic development, also stated: “It is great to see construction underway at Parkside Phase two and planning submitted for Phase three, and for St. Modwen to show confidence in being able to do business in Doncaster proving our economy is very much on the up.”
