Housebuilder’s sponsorship of fundraising event for Salisbury Wilton & District RNLI

A major fundraising event to be held this month for the Salisbury Wilton & District RNLI has received a cash boost thanks to a regional housebuilder.

The RNLI branch was chosen to receive £1,000 from Persimmon Homes South Coast, based in Fareham, through its Community Champions scheme to help sponsor its Midsummer Garden Party. The builder chose the group to benefit from its monthly match-funded donation.

The event will take place on Thursday, June 21, at Wilton House, by kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Pembroke and the trustees of Wilton House Trust. It will run from 6.30 to 8pm and will include drinks, canapes and a raffle, with lifesavers from the Mudeford Lifeboat also attending.

Spokesman Ray Stedman Branch Chairman said: “This is our main fundraising event of the year and we thank Persimmon Homes South Coast for supporting us in this way.

“We hope to have around 200 people attending the garden party, which is a larger number than expected due to the enlarged branch area including Salisbury. The event not only helps to raise money and raise awareness of one of the most popular national charities, it also puts the spotlight on the brave men and women who provide this invaluable life-saving service not only at sea and on our beaches but also, with current weather patterns, inland at times of severe floods.”

Matt Paine, managing director for Persimmon Homes South Coast, added: “We are always keen to support the local communities in which we build, and are especially delighted to be able to help the Salisbury Wilton & District RNLI in this way, and wish them a wonderful and successful evening.”

Persimmon Homes is currently building at St Peter’s Place in Fugglestone Red, along with its sister company, Charles Church.
