Plans approved for new access road to open up Capitol Park Goole

A planning application has been approved for a new access road at Capitol Park Goole at Junction 32 of the M62.

The access road will open up the 32-acre site for industrial development, creating 1,200 sustainable jobs.

Property developer Sterling Capitol was given the green light for the plans by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Capitol Park Goole has already been given the go-ahead to be a large-scale employment and distribution hub.

The 32-acre site, which has a capital value of £43m, has direct access to Junction 36 of the M62 and the Port of Goole, and sits within the Humber Enterprise Zone.

Mike Heydecke, on behalf of Sterling Capitol, commented: “We are absolutely delighted that planning permission has been granted for our new access road at Capitol Park Goole. This is a significant development for us, underling our commitment to this superb site. The access road will open up the site and create much-needed business space and jobs in the Goole area.

“The site has the capacity for 500,000 sq ft of quality warehousing and distribution space. We are looking to build one substantial unit, but could subdivide into two. It is adjacent to Guardian Glass and a major Tesco distribution hub, underling the park’s credentials.

“Now planning permission has been granted we will be actively marking the site. There has already been interest from potential occupiers, attracted by Capitol Park’s superb location, the quality of the site and its Enterprise Zone status.”

Stephen Silvester, inward investment manager for the East Riding of Yorkshire, commented: “Planning permission the access road is the last piece in the jigsaw for this strategically important employment site.

“It will allow Capital Park to build on the growing recognition that Goole, with its multi-modal transport links, excellent access to labour and Enterprise Zone status, is an ideal location for business. The jobs that will be accommodated at Capitol Park will be a real boost the local economy and we look forward to working with Sterling Capitol to secure these investments for Goole.”

Rob Whatmuff, director of industrial and logistics at Colliers International, also said: “The site’s close connectivity from the port at Goole through to the UK’s motorway networks, via J36 of the M62, coupled with its Enterprise Zone benefits, will be a big attraction to large occupiers looking to neighbour the 700,000 sq. ft. Tesco regional distribution centre and the 700,000 sq. ft. Guardian Glass’ manufacturing facility.

“Siemens’ recent announcement to invest £200m in a rail manufacturing plant adjacent to the park further endorses the location and the confirmation of the new access road enables unhindered deliverability of the consented site for up to 550,000 sq. ft.”
