Charity Masterchef Challenge

Ever the innovators, leading Burton based roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles has announced its latest fundraising event especially for lovers of good food!

Staff have organised ‘Soup-a-Stars’ a master chef style challenge, where couples will battle it out to create a mouth-watering dinner for guests at Burton Town Hall on the evening of Wednesday 27th June.

This latest event follows the success of their Strictly style event ’Dancing on the Tiles last year.

“We wanted to create an entertaining fundraiser, where everyone can get involved” said Araminta Chesters, Financial Director at Russell Roof Tiles who is organising the evening. “At the event guests are invited to join in the fun, choosing from one of the six menus as they arrive, and then playing the part of their favourite Master Chef judge, John Torode or Greg Wallace, they’ll score their starter, main course and dessert on presentation, flavour and creativity; voting for the winners, who will be crowned at the end of the night.”

Tickets are just £20 with all money going into Russell Roof Tiles special Community Fund, which supports a number of charities and organisations which are a pivotal part of the community. This includes support for Shropshire.Staffordshire.Cheshire Blood Bikes and Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes. Both are volunteer-led, providing lifesaving medical supplies to NHS foundations, by transporting vital blood products, bone marrow, breast milk for premature babies and other life-critical supplies to local hospitals via motorbike, where every minute counts in helping seriously ill and injured patients.

Last year’s fundraising events topped £32,500, as staff at Russell Roof Tiles, danced, ran, hiked, quizzed and even slimmed their way through the year raising much needed funds and the company hope to top this total in 2018.

For this year’s event 12 Russell Roof Tiles chefs have paired up into six teams, and they’re already busy creating their own three-course menus and practicing their culinary skills in preparation for the big event.

All are members of staff at either the Wetmore Lane or Nicolson Way factories.

Their exciting menus have been designed to please the palate and offer something special for every diner. The 12 chefs will demonstrate their skill and inventiveness, cooking some of their favourite dishes for 60 guests at the event, while other members of staff will play host and wait on diners.

Araminta added “We’re proud to have had such a great response from our staff volunteering for this event. Bringing the community together with great food and the fun of the ‘Soup-a-Stars’ competition is a wonderful way to raise money for the great causes that benefit from our Community Fund.”

Tickets for the 3-Course Meal are £20 each and can be purchased from Caroline Westwood or Sally Bancroft accounts@russellrooftiles.com Tel: 01283 517070
