Liverpool BID Company introduces new £250,000 cleansing team for levy payers

Liverpool BID Company has invested £250,000 into a new cleansing team that will help brighten and restore BID levy payers’ paving, footways and doorways to their full lustre, it has announced today.

Known as the BID Street Rangers, the six team members are sure to become familiar, friendly faces as they set out to clean the areas owned by levy payers in the two BID districts - Retail & Leisure BID and Commercial District BID.

As part of the investment, the BID Street Rangers will be using brand new equipment, including three bowsers which use jet wash technology for planned work across the BID area, and a fully electric truck equipped with a miniature bowser for bespoke issues. The bowsers use 900 litres of hot water to remove foot grime and chewing gum.

Ian Strettle, chair, Retail & Leisure BID said:

“Liverpool BID Company is listening to its BID levy payers and tackling the issues that matter the most to us. Many of our businesses rely on strong footfall and the environment in which we trade in plays a huge part in that. Customers and visitors will simply not come if our footways and doorways are dirty.”

Bill Addy, chief executive, Liverpool BID Company, said:

“Liverpool BID Company is committed to the trading environment in the BID areas - the success of our BID levy payers depends on it. With this latest investment we can now go that extra step and respond further and quickly to the needs of our levy payers.”

The BID Street Rangers have already set to work on a deep cleanse of the land outside the Lyceum building on Bold Street and Exchange Flags, while businesses such as restaurant Olive on Castle Street and Dream Apartments on Victoria Street have been supported by the new team in recent weeks.
