Flow unveiled as Big Chip Awards creative partner
Flow Creative - an award-winning design and video production agency - has been appointed as the lead creative partner for this year’s Big Chip Awards.
The agency has been invited to design the opening sequence for the 20th anniversary of the awards as well as designing the portfolio of digital and print assets for the ceremony.
The two-year-old agency was delighted to be invited to create the animations after being one of the big winners at last year’s event. In 2017, Flow took home the awards for Best Use Of Animation, Best Use of Digital Design and Best Public Sector Project for its work with Arts Council England as well as the Grand Prix award for the most impressive campaign of the year.
In 2018, its work for the BBC has been shortlisted in new category, Best Creative Impact award.
An open brief to create an animated video that celebrates 20 years of the Big Chip awards will see Flow take the audience on an illustrated journey through video games of the last two decades and beyond. Based on a theme of northern pride, the video promises to champion the great work produced across the region. The theme will seamlessly transcend onto the print and digital designs created by the agency.
The motion animation video, led by in-house animators Karl Doran and Jordan Painter, gave Flow a chance to collaborate with some of its favourite Manchester-based creatives. Chris Moran, James Horton, James Huson, Jardine Sage and Chris Lacey have utilised their unique skill sets to help complete the one minute 40 second video.
The full video - and winners - will be revealed at an awards ceremony on 4 July.
Karl Doran, creative director, said: “We’ve been huge fans of the Big Chip Awards for such a long time now, so to be part of it is a genuine honour. Designing a video that our most admired peers will see is another highlight for Flow that we can’t quite believe is happening as we head into our third year.
“You don’t often get such creative freedom from a brief, so that’s made it a really fun one to work on, too.”
Shaun Fensom, chair of the Big Chip steering group, said: “I’m delighted that Flow is doing our opening sequence video this year. The Big Chip video has become something of an institution over the years. I’m confident that Flow will raise the bar still higher in this, our 20th year!”
