Pitman Training Celebrate Pride Month by Offering FREE Training Focused on Being Your True Self at Work
As part of Pitman Training’s yearlong commitment to Push for Progress, following the launch of their free training and coaching platform for women, this month see the addition of some great content linked to Pride month, when the world’s LGBT+ communities come together and celebrate the freedom to be themselves.
As part of Pride month, British Superbrand Pitman Training has partnered with Gina Battye, a World Renowned LGBT+ Identity Coach and Inclusion Consultant, to encourage employees to remove the masks they may be wearing, and encourage more people to be their authentic selves at work.
Gina specialises in LGBT+ Inclusion, Transgender and Non-Binary in the workplace and is called upon, worldwide to deliver her insights and coaching, by leading global organisations working with senior leaders, the HR and Diversity and Inclusion teams, as well as with individuals. Gina has been described as “The Best of Louise Hay and Ellen DeGeneres!” and has worked with GE, AstraZeneca, Bank of America, BBC, ITV, Yorkshire Water, Coop, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, Experian, Vodafone, HBOS… and many more.
Following statistics that show that 1 in 4 of LGB workers are not at all open to colleagues about their sexual orientation (*Statistics taken from Gay Britain); Gina’s webinar explores what authenticity is, why it is important to be your authentic self at work and what it can cost you if you are daily living behind a mask - something relevant to all, not just the LGBT community.
Sharing her own experiences as well as advice on how to deal with colleagues, from the corporate training work that she does, Gina’s contribution to Pitman’s Push for Progress platform sees the training provider embracing Pride month and using it to help push for progress in this area too.
Gina says; “I am delighted to have been asked to partner with Pitman Training as part of PRIDE month. I am passionate about helping people to reconnect with their true and authentic self - unleashing untapped potential. This webinar isn’t exclusively for the LGBT community, I know that it will help anyone who watches it to consider what labels, titles and layers they allow to mask over who they truly are.”
Gina herself lived behind a mask for year, she says; “A censored version of yourself is a version you have honed over the years to fit in and be accepted. I used to wear a mask everyday when I worked in a college. I didn’t want to have that whole awkward ‘I am gay’ conversation in the staff room and as a result, I hid who I really was – but it reached a point where I was exhausted from delivering a performance and pretending to be someone else.”
Gina continues; “Over time we accumulate labels for ourselves; daughter, son, mother, father, gay, straight, creative, student, shy… We assign ourselves titles; Health worker, Teacher, Business manager… and as a result, what happens over the years is that we become defined by our layers and this adds another mask we can hide behind.”
“The authentic you, is underneath all of the layers – the peaceful, joyful, creative, loving, passionate soul underneath.”
Through the FREE webinar, Gina talks through 3 steps in how to be your authentic self at work - raise, release and reconnect.
-
Raise is raising your awareness of how you currently present yourself to the world.
-
Release all the old beliefs, conditioning, patterns and judgements that you have internalised over the years.
-
Reconnect to who you really are, your authentic and true self and what you are here to do.
