North East consultancy creates new jobs with international expansion

A property and construction company has more than doubled the size of its Darlington headquarters and launched its first international office.

BWL Consulting, which offers bid, tender and commercial services, has moved up from 344 to 816 sq ft of office space at Lingfield Point.

The consultancy has also taken on further staff, including two university graduates, and opened a new office in the Republic of Ireland.

Michael Lee, director of BWL, said: “Since our inception more than 12 months ago, we have experienced significant growth with both national and international clients. As a result, we moved to bigger premises to accommodate our growing workforce.

“Lingfield Point was our first choice due to its central location and construction related clients located here. It’s close to major road, rail and air transport links and gives us a platform to grow for many years to come.

“We recently launched our first international office in the Republic of Ireland and we are currently looking to expand into Australia, Singapore, Qatar, Dubai, the US and Canada within the next five years.”

Eddie Humphries, estate manager at Lingfield Point, added: “It’s great to see a local company like BWL expanding internationally from its headquarters right here in Darlington.

The company now has a workforce of 10, having recently taken on an additional four staff.

Michael concluded: “The North East is underestimated – we have some of the most intuitive graduates in the UK. We think it’s important to harness university talent and we’re aiming to have another local recruitment drive with the addition of two new offices within the next 12 months.”
