Free summertime fun for all the family at intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre

intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre are treating shoppers to a fun-packed July with a host of free activities and entertainment guaranteed to make this summer one to remember!

Visitors to both shopping centres can enjoy an array of family entertainment – from football themed activities to mark the World Cup, face-painting and delicious food sampling, to old-school games and competitions - plus the chance to soak up a little seaside atmosphere.

The celebrations at intu Eldon Square kick off with a World Cup weekend on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July, where football fans can embrace their competitive side and challenge their friends to a game of table football or channel their inner Ronaldo to pose for a photo at the stadium backdrop.

As World Cup weekend also coincides with World Chocolate Day, shoppers will be celebrating in style as they enjoy free chocolate treats in the mall - sweet!

On Saturday 14 July intu Eldon Square’s youngest visitors will be transported to a whole new world as fairytale princesses roam the malls entertaining shoppers. Little princes and princesses can also enjoy their own royal makeover with free face painting taking place in the centre throughout the day.

Shoppers can take advantage of a duvet day with a difference on Saturday 21 July as a Sharps bed will be set up on the mall, tempting passers-by to catch forty winks in between shopping sprees. They can share the fun online @intueldonsquare with #intusmilemoments for the chance to win a £50 intu Gift Card. There will also be live performances throughout the day from Music in Hospitals - a charity which brings live music to people in hospitals and care settings across the UK.

In addition to the free, family entertainment, there will be tasty food sampling taking place on Saturday 28 July and Sunday 29 July, showcasing the very best food offers available at intu Eldon Square.

Over at intu Metrocentre the fun continues with a host of activities for shoppers to enjoy - including the chance to test their hand eye coordination at the free ping pong tables situated in the Lower Qube near Argos.

Throughout July, intu Metrocentre’s customer services team will be challenging visitors to ‘Take A Chance’ - a game with delightful rewards and fun forfeits. Lucky shoppers will select an envelope which could contain an amazing offer from retailers in the centre, such as free ice cream at Hotel Chocolat or a free bowling pass at Namco, or they may have to complete a challenge - which includes paying a stranger a compliment and singing loudly in the shower!

The summertime entertainment culminates with the intu Metrocentre Summer Party on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July which will bring all the fun of the fair to the centre. From an inflatable helter skelter and indoor beach to sand sculptures and roaming seagulls, visitors can soak up an authentic seaside vibe whatever the weather has in store!

With tasty treats including popcorn and candy floss machines, as well as delicious samples from some of intu Metrocentre’s hottest restaurants including Thaikhun, shoppers will find it hard to resist temptation.

An exciting new Metrognomes show is also planned for August – The Great Expedition of the North! The show will run for four weeks from Monday 6 August and celebrate the very best of the North East in true Metrognomes style.
