Masgroves swaps London for Birmingham with new approach to communication

A leading communication specialist is relocating to Birmingham after securing a number of new contracts in the West Midlands.

Masgroves, the brainchild of Stuart Thomas and Tony Cosgrove, is moving into the Assay Studios in Newhall Street as part of a long-term commitment to growing its business in the region.

It marks an exciting period for the company, with the move from London coming just a few weeks after it launched a new product called ‘DOING by Masgroves’, a series of unique learning experiences focused on making companies better through brilliant communication.

These experiences are internal events that focus on helping business leaders and companies successfully engage with their people.

“We are delivering an increasing amount of work in the Midlands so it made sense to create a base in the region,” explained Stuart Thomas, who has more than 20 years’ corporate experience at HomeServe, Mitsubishi and Tesco.

“Birmingham is booming! It has all the buzz of London without the congestion and we’re excited to be a part of it. Add in excellent transport links, connectivity and first-class facilities, we couldn’t see ourselves being anywhere else.”

He continued: “Why the Assay Studios? Like us, it is a little bit different, combining the traditional design of the Jewellery Quarter with state-of-the art facilities making it a fantastic new home.”

Masgroves was established in 2014 to provide unique solutions to how businesses communicate with their people.

Led by Stuart and Tony, the company has grown into one of the leaders in its field and currently boasts a regional, national and international client base, featuring blue chip organisations such as Talbots Law, Reward Gateway, London Sport, Soil Association and Kohler Co.

As part of its move to the Midlands, Masgroves is looking to create a collective of small agencies who can work together to deliver specialist, yet complementary services, to companies. This could include recruitment, public relations and executive coaching.

Tony, who previously worked at Natural England, picked up the story: “We are very excited about the Birmingham base and already have a number of new opportunities in the pipeline.

“There’s a lot of focus on the Gig Economy, where smaller, more agile firms are pooling resources to make a much bigger difference. We want to create something similar here in the West Midlands and will be launching the collaboration shortly.

“The region is awash with fantastic talent and we believe we can bring it to the fore by joining forces with other like-minded, but non-competing, firms.”

Earlier this month, Masgroves received the 2018 Lotus Award for Company Culture & Sustainability, a worldwide award that recognises and celebrates great workplaces.
