FIRST ARK, LIVERPOOL CITY COUNCIL AND ROYAL MENCAP WIN BIG AT BOOTLE-BASED TRAINING STRATEGIES’ AWARDS

First Ark, Liverpool City Council and Royal Mencap were amongst the winners big at Training Strategies’ Awards held on Wednesday 4th July.

The ceremony, held at 30 James Street, saw apprentices, employers and learners alike honoured for their dedication to education through Training Strategies’ quality apprenticeships and training programmes for the unemployed.

Training Strategies, Merseyside’s training centre, rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, is renowned for working with top employers across the city and beyond to help those who are unemployed or exploring how they can expand their skillset.

First Ark and Liverpool City Council were the biggest winners of the night taking home two gongs each.

First Ark, Liverpool’s social impact business, won Best Supporting Employer and the company’s Jason Tighe was awarded the Lifelong Learning award.

Liverpool City Council’s Lynn Ward scooped Business Apprentice of the Year award and Christina O’Neil was honoured with Best Supporting Manager.

Health & Social Care Apprentice of the Year was awarded to Gloria Pitso from Royal Mencap, whilst Carlisle scooped New Employer of the Year and Seaforth Radio Cars took home Best Existing Employer.

Apprenticeships manager Barry Dunne said: “I am delighted to honour learners and employers alike for their hardwork and dedication to undertaking and investing in quality training within Liverpool and beyond.

“We’re so passionate about bettering peoples’ skills and both helping those who are unemployed or navigating a career path, as well as working with and top employers to gain reliable, knowledgeable staff so it felt only right that we awarded them. Congratulations to all of the winners and those shortlisted.”

Mayor Joe Anderson, who presented the awards, said: “It was a great honour to present the awards to the deserving students and employers. Training Strategies works tirelessly to equip the city region with key skills and does a fantastic job at it.”
