Biotech startup to create 40 jobs at former BBC HQ

Biotech startup Synthace Ltd has revealed plans to create jobs as it is expands into White City Place, former headquarters of the BBC.

The business signed up for 13,000 sq ft on the fourth floor of the WestWorks building, where it will relocate 40 staff and recruit another 40 within the next 12 months.

Synthace is the company behind cloud software that automates and improves the success rate of biological research and development.

The firm is currently based at offices in St Pancras. In September last year, it raised £7.3m in Series A funding.

Synthace is the latest life sciences business to sign up at White City Place, following a deal earlier this month with biopharmaceutical company Autolus.

Synthace chief exec Tim Fell said: “These excellent new facilities, and Stanhope and Mitsui Fudosan’s commitment to the life sciences, makes White City an ideal place to relocate and scale our business.

“The advantages of being within a vibrant life science and tech hub are of huge benefit to a dynamic company like ours.”

Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo are the investment and development companies behind the White City Place scheme.

David Camp, CEO of Stanhope, commented: “The arrival of Synthace at WestWorks, alongside neighbouring life sciences company Autolus, puts White City Place on the map as part of a leading concentration of biotechnology and biopharmaceutical companies, facilitating the growth, development and investment necessary for the ongoing success of the UK’s ‘knowledge’ economy. We look forward to welcoming Synthace to White City.”
