Bolton contractor to build £57m X1 scheme at Chatham Docks
Developer X1 has chosen Bolton-based Forrest as the main contractor for its fifth flagship residential scheme.
X1 Chatham Waters, part of a wider £650m masterplan by Peel Land & Property, will deliver 199 apartments overlooking the historic Chatham Docks.
Designed by Liverpool firm DK-Architects, the £57m development will create a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes along with a residents’ gym, double-height concierge atrium, private courtyard garden and internal private car parking.
Forrest construction director Shaun Jones said: “We are excited to be continuing our ongoing relationship with X1 by starting work on another significant open market apartment scheme and are currently working closely with the local supply chain to provide opportunities for the network of local businesses in the area.”
X1’s operations and regional director, Melissa Green, commented: “The local area is perfect for young renters. The wider master plan will see a unique marina destination created, with tenants benefiting from the tranquility of waterside living while also being within commuting distance of central London.”
Andy Philips, commercial director at property consultancy Knight Knox, said: “X1 Chatham Waters is a fantastic development which is sure to be extremely popular.
“Aside from the stunning waterfront location, the apartments are on average considerably larger than those at other nearby developments and, in most cases, actually in excess of the national space standards.”
