New Danish watch brand launches in UK after $250k Kickstarter
Danish designer watch brand Nordgreen has launched in the UK on the back of a crowdfunding campaign.
The company, based in Copenhagen, set up a new e-commerce platform for British customers alongside websites catering for Germany, China, Japan, Korea and other global markets.
Nordgreen was founded by e-commerce-focused venture capital fund Blazar Capital, which holds a 50% share in the business.
An anonymous private investor invested $500k (around £378k) in the brand through the capital fund, securing a 10% share in Nordgreen and valuing the company at $5m ahead of its launch.
Since then, Nordgreen has raised a further $250k (c.£189k) on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.
The company’s advisory board includes former Carlsberg chief exec Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen and Mikkel Vendelin Olesen, ex-CEO of jewellery brand Pandora, among other high profile entrepreneurs and investors.
Nordgreen is one of three e-commerce startups created with Blazar Capital – the others being eyewear brands JamieLooks and Messyweekend.
