North East Hoteliers give national trade charity a boost

The North East Hotels Association (NEHA) has presented the national trade charity Hospitality Action with a cheque for £1,500.

The funds were raised by over 400 guests through a special prize draw at the North East Hotels Association eighth annual Excellence Awards, which celebrate the brightest stars of the region’s hotel industry.

Hospitality Action is the UK hospitality industry’s benevolent organisation, providing vital assistance and support to all who work, or have worked, within hospitality and who find themselves in crisis.

NEHA joint chair, Lisa Crocker, general manager at Staybridge Suites Newcastle, said: “It gives us great pleasure to support and help to raise awareness of Hospitality Action. It is a very worthy charity which goes above and beyond for hard working individuals in the hospitality sector across the country.”

The NEHA is believed to be the biggest of its kind in England, representing 50 of the region’s best-known hotels including internationally and nationally recognised chains, and leading independent hotels.

Association members have a significant impact on the regional economy, employing more than 3,400 people and spending £70 million purchasing products and services through its supply chain. It is estimated that the overall contribution of the NEHA to the North East economy and GDP of the region is £616 million.
