Free family fun at intu Metrocentre's Summer Party!

intu Metrocentre is hosting a spectacular summer party and inviting shoppers to join in the celebrations with a fabulous free weekend of family entertainment on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July.

Visitors can celebrate the start of summer in style with a host of free activities and entertainment guaranteed to make this summer one to remember! All the fun of the fair is on the agenda, including a digital graffiti wall, an inflatable ball pit and children’s arts and crafts, plus the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

Shoppers can sit back and relax in a giant deckchair while little ones play in the sand at the giant indoor beach – back by popular demand! There’ll even be roaming seagulls, candyfloss and popcorn machines and a sand sculpture of intu Metrocentre’s loveable Metrognome Herbert – all of which will add to the authentic seaside vibe.

In Lower Town Square, near House of Fraser, children can slide into summer courtesy of an inflatable helter skelter or head along to The Village where they can immerse themselves in the arts and crafts zone. Artists young and old alike can also unleash their inner Banksy at the funky digital graffiti wall in Exhibition Square, near Primark, which allows people to create an urban masterpiece in moments.

Herbert, Sherbet, Maggot and Rusty will be entertaining visitors throughout the weekend and shoppers will be able to snap a selfie with their favourite fairytale princesses and intergalactic explorers from the 99th Garrison.

In addition to the fun, free, family entertainment, there will be tasty food sampling taking place from some of intu Metrocentre’s hottest restaurants including delicious Thai street food from Thaikhun. There will also be some fantastic spot prizes up for grabs – little ones enjoying the ball pit should keep an eye out for special Metrognome balls for the chance to win a surprise treat for all the family. Helen Atkinson, marketing manager at intu Metrocentre, said:

“At intu Metrocentre we know how important it is for families to spend quality time together, so we’ve organised a spectacular Summer Party guaranteed to put smiles on the faces of all of our shoppers!

“Whether you’re sliding down our inflatable helter skelter, channelling your artistic side at our graffiti wall, enjoying some candyfloss at our indoor beach or simply having a great day out with family and friends, everyone visiting intu Metrocentre is in for a real treat this weekend!”

The fun continues this summer as an exciting new Metrognomes show is also planned for August – The Great Expedition of the North, where the Metrognomes will be going on a time-travelling, mystery-solving, fun-filled adventure through time! From Hadrian’s Wall to Geordie dinosaurs the show will celebrate the very best of the North East in true Metrognomes style.

The Great Expedition of the North will run for four weeks from Monday 6 August to Friday 31 August with shows at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6.30pm every day. Please note there will be no 6.30pm show on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August.

While in centre shoppers can sign up to the free intu family club to receive exclusive offers and discounts from retailers, a free gift, membership pack, a magazine and much more. intu Metrocentre’s Summer Party: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July
