John Olds appointed as site manager for Barratt Homes’ new Wiltshire development

John Olds has been appointed as site manager at Sandridge Place, Barratt Homes’ new development in Melksham where work is underway to create a community of 100 new homes.

John will be responsible for overseeing construction at the site, liaising with construction workers, subcontractors and suppliers. With more than 10 years’ experience in the housing industry, he previously worked on Barratt’s successful Bilbie Green development in Keynsham in Bristol – and he says his favourite part of the role is moving people into their new home.

He said: “You just can’t beat the feeling of showing someone around their home for the first time. I take a lot of pride in getting the homes just right and it’s unbelievably rewarding seeing the face of the homebuyers who are over the moon.

“It’s always extra special handing over the keys to first time buyers who have achieved their goal of buying a home, it’s such a milestone moment in life.

“We’ve got a fantastic team on site that have a great wealth of expertise, they really know their stuff and what it takes to finish a home to the highest possible standard.

“Personally, I find it rewarding having a good working relationship with my team. We all work really hard so we all share a great sense of satisfaction when the homes are complete and the homebuyers start moving in.

“Progress is going well and we’re all looking forward to opening the doors to what will be an impressive new community at Sandridge Place this summer.”

Barratt Homes managing director Russell Glimstead said: “We are delighted to have John at the helm of our new development and know he will do a stellar job. Site managers such as John play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality new homes and it is this quality which should inspire confidence in our buyers.”

Sandridge Place is situated in the bustling market town of Melksham in Wiltshire, which has a handy local shop, regular farmers market on a Tuesday and a friendly pub. There is also a variety of good transport links - rail and road - so commuters moving to the new development will have the perfect place in which to call home.
