Cork of the North Expands with Second Outlet in Heaton Moor

CORK of the North wine merchants have expanded their operations in South Manchester, with the opening of a new wine bar in Heaton Moor, Stockport.

Musicians from New Order and The Stone Roses joined owner Marc Hough for the opening party, earlier this week.

Marc, who also owns the original Cork of the North on Northenden Road in Sale, believes the Heaton Moor establishment will be the biggest and best wine shop and wine bar Manchester and Cheshire has ever seen.

He said: “There is no question in my mind that Cork of the North Heaton Moor will be south Manchester’s go-to destination for the best wines.

“Cork of the North has more than 500 different wines to take home or drink by the glass, including what is easily the biggest selection of organic and vegan wines in the north west.

“There will also be a huge range of speciality gins and spirits, as well as beers and ciders, and we’ll be shining the spotlight on local producers from the surrounding areas.”

Like the original Cork of the North, the Heaton Moor bar will also host weekly wine tasting events and offer a menu of lip-smacking small plates specially curated to complement the wines available in the bar’s sophisticated surroundings.

The new addition also boasts a large outdoor seating area, complete with heaters, for year-long alfresco drinking.

Marc said: “Cork of the North Heaton Moor is run by the same people who have put the original Sale bar on the Manchester bar map. It has the same amazing atmosphere and the same fantastic selection of drinks but in a venue that has even more character than our already impressive Sale bar.

“Not that I’m bragging, I’m just very, very excited about this new venture and what we have to offer Manchester and Cheshire’s dedicated wine aficionados.”
