Bloomin’ marvellous: Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate crowns Hampsthwaite in Bloom competition winner

Local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, recently welcomed the Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate to its local Grange Park development, where he crowned Kathy Varley the winner of the housebuilder’s Hampsthwaite in Bloom gardening competition.

Residents at the new development were each gifted with a hanging basket in May, and were challenged to get their new garden feature blooming to be in with the chance of winning a £100 gift voucher.

The Mayor, Councillor Bernard Bateman MBE, commented: “It was wonderful to visit Grange Park and see the hard work that all of the residents had put into bringing their hanging baskets to life. It was a difficult decision to make, but Kathy’s basket was beautiful with a lovely display. I look forward to seeing Grange Park continue to bloom over the summer months and the excellent community feeling continuing to grow with new residents.”

Kathy Varley, winner of the Hampsthwaite in Bloom competition, commented: “I was thrilled the Mayor picked my basket to win the competition. It was delightful to meet him in person, and I’m over the moon with how my display turned out. I look forward to adding more personal touches to my new home!”

Chris Neal, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes’ Grange Park development, commented: “We were honoured to welcome Councillor Bernard Bateman to Grange Park to judge the competition. It was great to see everybody get involved, and all of the entries were wonderful. The blossoming baskets really complement the look and feel of the development, and we look forward to seeing how the summer months inspire our residents to make their new garden’s their own!”
