Surgo Construction nabs £14m contract to build 50 luxury homes in Ponteland
Building group Surgo Construction has secured an eight-figure residential contract.
The Gateshead-based firm is tasked with delivering 50 large four- and five-bedroom homes on a 10.1-acre in Medburn, Ponteland.
Developer Medburn Homes is the company behind the scheme, which is set to be worth around £14m to Surgo.
It will bring the total number of homes the construction firm has in the pipeline to 164 across five developments, both in the private residential and affordable homes sectors.
The Ponteland development, designed by North Shields-based Blake Hopkinson Architecture, will be known as Medburn Park and built in four phases.
James Walker, managing director at Surgo Construction, said: “We have developed extensive experience over the years of building high quality new homes.
“We are now building 164 new homes at the same time, which is an impressive number of properties, given that we don’t solely focus on the housing market.”
He added: “We are very pleased to announce this new project win and are hopeful it may lead to further residential development work in the future.”
The first houses are expected to be ready for occupation in January 2019, with the full construction programme due to conclude in September 2020.
