Caswells Group will bring £900k investment plan to Teesside centre
Work begins tomorrow (August 10) on a £900k investment plan at a Teesside supply centre specialising in construction and commerce.
The Caswells Group is digging the first turf on a 12,000 sq ft extension to its embroidery and sign department at its Lagonda Road HQ on Billingham’s Cowpen Industrial Estate.
The group, with an annual turnover of £12m, provides anything and everything needed in the workplace from nuts and bolts to large plant and equipment.
Six new members of staff will be hired once the ambitious project is complete in six months. The company, established in 1972, currently employs 50 people.
The extension will be kitted out with three new embroidery/packing and printing machines costing a total of £360k.
Managing director, Peter Caswell, said: “Embroidery and signage on construction sites and in sport and industry in general is something many people take for granted but it’s an important and expanding part of our business.
“We design and embroider millions of items a year for UK and international markets. It may have literally once been a hobby or cottage industry but today it’s a specialised and mechanised division of the Caswell Group and we intend to develop the business to the full.”
