Russell Roof Tiles' Fun Day promises to bowl over families

A competitive cricket tournament, exciting children’s activities and some much-needed charity fundraising will be the top order of the day, when Burton-based Russell Roof Tiles bowls its second Family Fun Day.

The leading roofing tile manufacturer is looking forward to welcoming families for a day of delicious BBQ food, bouncy castles, welly wanging and face painting, when the event takes place on 19th August at Trentside Cricket Ground on Burton Road in Branston.

Cricket enthusiasts will also be able to put their ultimate skills to the test for the day’s main event. 48 players from across four teams will compete in 12-overs cricket matches, in a bid to be crowned champion and win the prestigious Russell Roof Tiles trophy.

Russell Roof Tiles, which employs 100 staff across its two sites in Burton, is holding the event as part of its year-long charity fundraising. This year, the team hopes to almost double the amount raised at the last family fun day (£1,600), with a target of £3,000.

The monies raised will go towards local charities including Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes and Dumfries and Galloways Blood Bikes, which is local to the manufacturer’s third site in Scotland, and will support both organisations in providing life-saving services.

Paul McLoughlin, Commercial Services Director at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “Preparations are in full swing for our Family Fun Day and we are promising an exciting family event that you do not want to miss.

“From bouncy castles to a cricket tournament, there is something for the whole family to enjoy and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the cricket ground.”

Having raised £56,000 for a variety of charities since 2015, Russell Roof Tiles has hosted a number of charity events from Strictly Come Dancing style competitions to family fun days in order to raise money for the chosen charities.

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles added: “At Russell Roof Tiles, we are always keen to support important local charities that make a significant contribution to our community and it is fantastic that this event will be able raise much-need funds.

“The team have been hard at work pulling the event together and we are hoping that this one will be our biggest and best one yet.”

A raffle will also take place with tickets available to buy on the day or in advance from Russell Roof Tiles and a small donation is required for food on the day, with all proceeds going to charity.

Spaces for the cricket tournament are now limited and cost £10 per person. To enter or for more information, please contact Paul McLoughlin at paul.mcloughin@russellrooftiles.com.
