Latest sushi bar rolls into Newcastle's new STACK complex
Part of the opening of Newcastle’s own shipping container complex, STACK, on Pilgrim Street, a new concept in Japanese sushi dining has launched in the city.
Rolled fresh to order, Sushi Me Rollin officially opened its doors on August 16.
Previous head chef of Avieka, current holder of Newcastle’s Restaurant of the Year Award, Kurt Toulson, is spear heading this new creation, along with previous sous chefs of Peace and Loaf in Jesmond, Simon Whitehead and Hugo Embleton-Black.
Sushi Me Rollin is housed in 30 sq m premises in the city’s new STACK complex and aims to create job opportunities as the business grows.
Robson Laidler Accountants in Jesmond has helped set the restaurant up with a point of sale system, a card payment and receipt management facility that fits in line with the generation of the owners.
Robson Laidler’s client cloud manager, Nick Wilson, said: “We have helped take away the stress of actually setting up the financial elements and registering the business from the three directors so they can concentrate on what they know and do best - actually running the business and creating the sensational food on offer.
“We have introduced them to Square for their till system and have guided them with the set up and they love the idea of taking pictures of invoices and storing them in the cloud rather than keeping them in a box.”
Accounting system, Xero has been implemented to make the restaurant Making Tax Digital (MTD) ready for new tax reporting changes coming into place in April 2019, where records need to be maintained on digital software and tax returns being prepared quarterly rather than the current once a year approach.
Sushi Me Rollin’s chef and director, Hugo Embleton-Black, added: “Sushi Me Rollin’ is a concept that only recently came to life through a passion for flavours and ingredients, combined with the desire of three chefs with an adoration for learning and going further.
“It was clear from our first chat with Robson Laidler Accountants that they could help us with more than just our accounts.
“Not only have they saved us money and given us sound business advice, but they have set us up with our till systems, receipt management and invoice control.
“We are so excited to bring our fresh ready-to-order sushi concept to the taste buds of Newcastle and we have every faith it’s going to be a winner.”
