Northamptonshire Company Celebrates 20 Years of Success

UK based plastic manufacturing company, Great Central Plastics, is celebrating 20 years of continued success in the plastic tooling, moulding and manufacturing industry. The business has earned a reputation as one of the UK’s leading plastic manufacturers due to the continued success of delivering orders to prestigious clients.

Successfully securing a large contract with McDonalds in its first year, established the company’s place as a serious contender in the UK manufacturing market. McDonalds was the first order Great Central Plastics received and by the time the contract came to a close the company had produced over 30 million units for their client. Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Great Central Plastics has continued to successfully gain some of the best known international brands as customers.

Gaining contracts over the years with high profile clients such as McDonalds, Petit Filous, Jaguar, Mercedes and Gordons Gin, Great Central Plastics has vast experience in working closely with customers from design to creation, assisting in making diverse, bespoke and complex plastic products. The manufacturer has even been involved in producing products for film productions including Paddington Bear, Madagascar and Batman Dark Knight Rises.

Speaking about the company’s 20th anniversary, Darryl Brown, Technical Director and Board Partner at Great Central Plastics said: “We are delighted with the success that we’ve achieved over the past 20 years working with local and international companies to provide promotional products, automotive plastics and plastics for industrial use. We’ve managed to obtain a strong client based and have enjoyed the challenge of producing complex bespoke work for some of the world’s most recognised brands.”

The company is one of the only plastic manufacturers in the UK to possess the ability to produce two-shot injection moulding products. With these capabilities, the company is able to produce intricate plastic moulding work for client’s bespoke products, giving them a distinct advantage for completing complex requests.

The company was founded in 1998 by Managing Director Tony Phillips who immediately brought on board partner and Technical Director Darryl Brown. Tony already had 10 years of experience in the industry before starting Great Central Plastics and Darryl came with 15 years of experience in tool making. The combination of skills and experience has enabled impressive growth and the ability to deliver high volume contracts. The company currently employs 20 members of staff.

Darryl Brown added: “We have invested in state of the art CAD and CAM facilities and with our highly skilled staff we recently completed a large contract of 50,000 swizzle sticks for Shout Promotional Merchandise and for the country’s most watched programme this year – Love Island. Our team was able to tool, mould and deliver the products in an impressive two weeks. Working with clients on the creative process, as well as offering tool-making and injection moulding, enables everything to be completed in-house and to run smoothly, producing high quality products at high volume on time and on budget.”

Great Central Plastics provide a full service, from idea through to creation, for bespoke plastic products to a diverse range of clients throughout various industries as well as for industrial use. From the company’s 10,500 sq ft manufacturing facility, with state of the art CAD/CAM technology as well as top of the range plastic injection moulding equipment, products are created to the clients exacting requirements.
