O’Brien pitch in to support Beacon

North East based O’Brien group have pledged their support for Sunderland’s newest sports, events and education venue.

The O’Brien group of companies, synonymous with excellence in the North East, is demonstrating its commitment to the local community by sponsoring two steps of the Beacon of Light’s feature staircase and an outdoor 3G football pitch.

The feature staircase, which is a linking point for all five stories, has 73 steps in recognition of Sunderland AFC’s famous FA Cup success against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium in 1973.

Beacon of Light supporters can show their support for the ground-breaking venue which opened earlier this month by purchasing step fronts engraved with their name and logo for £5000+VAT.

O’Brien will also sponsor one of the Beacon’s outdoor 3G five-a-side pitches, which are used for youth and grassroots sports developments as well as for men’s health programmes.

The 30m x 60m pitch will feature O’Brien branding around its perimeter.

Nathan O’Brien, said: “As a family-run business with a real connection to the North East we wanted to do something to support this great region. We were blown away by the facility, the energy of the staff operating it and the endless opportunities the Beacon of Light will offer the communities

“The Beacon of Light allies with many of our business and personal values; it aims to offer excellence and be a leader within its field without compromising its core mission.

“I would encourage any business to get in touch for a free tour of the fantastic facilities.”

“There are many excellent opportunities for businesses to be involved with this fantastic project and we’re very proud to be able to support the Beacon of Light and are very excited to see them make an impact on our communities.

Phil King, Beacon of Light General Manager added: “We’re extremely grateful to Nathan and the O’Brien family for their support which will help us realise our mission.”

“Nathan has been very supportive of the Beacon both as a key partner and advisor and offering him a package that worked for his business was very straightforward.”

The Beacon of Light which opened its doors to the public earlier this month houses a 4G football barn, capable of hosting 7-a-side and 5-a-side games, six outdoor 5-a-side pitches, a versatile indoor arena which can also host national sporting competitions, exhibitions and events, and a suite of classrooms, offices and informal learning spaces.

The Beacon of Light will also be a home for the Foundation of Light, generating vital funds which will be reinvested back in to the community through the charity’s award-winning programmes.
