Blueprint Appoints New Deputy Chief Executive

Blueprint, the multi award winning developer that specialises in the development of sustainable places, has appointed Sam Veal to the newly created role of Deputy Chief Executive.

Sam has more than 30 years’ experience in construction, development and public private partnerships. A chartered surveyor, her career has involved a diverse range of projects from regeneration, health, retail, bespoke residences and affordable housing. Most recently, she was CEO of Uliving, Linkcity’s dedicated student accommodation offering, working in partnership with Universities to design, build, finance and operate high quality on campus accommodation.

The appointment comes at an exciting time for Blueprint as it embarks on ambitious growth plans. Sam will work alongside Blueprint’s Chief Executive and current High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Nick Ebbs. Nick commented: “Over the years, Sam and I have crossed paths on various projects and have always had a shared passion for sustainability. Her experience of the wide spectrum of housing will be invaluable as we look to the next exciting chapter for Blueprint.

“Places for People Capital, who are a leading responsible real estate fund have recently acquired a 50% share in Blueprint. The other shareholder is Nottingham City Council. Both shareholders are keen to expand Blueprint’s remit and to build upon our solid platform of award winning projects. Sam’s appointment will strengthen our leadership team and provide a much-needed resource as we look to expand our reach across the region.

“Part of her remit will be to foster partnerships new and old across the wider Midlands region; taking best practice examples from across the UK to develop schemes which meet the changing needs of today’s market. Sam has shown an acute understanding of the Blueprint business and our vision for the future and I look forward to working with her.” Sam, who has lived in the East Midlands for more than 25 years is excited to be back working in the region. She commented: “Blueprint’s values are very much aligned with my own, I have admired their work for many years and so I was delighted to be offered this opportunity. This is a very exciting time to be joining the business and I’m looking forward to working with Nick and the team to further Blueprint’s aims. This is a great region to live and work in, Blueprint’s progressive approach to design and sustainability offers genuine choice to our customers and partners enhancing the regions offer.

“The region offers huge potential but ensuring what we develop meets the wider needs of our urban areas both now and in the future is key. How we live and the living experience that people want is changing. The provision for co-working and the development of a community and business network is vital if we are to retain our graduates and continue to invigorate growth in our urban centres.”

Established in 2005, Blueprint has been responsible for several high-profile developments across the East Midlands, including Green Street in the Meadows, a sustainable housing project, Nottingham Science Park and Phoenix Square Leicester. The multi phase Trent Basin project at Nottingham Waterside is its largest current scheme with scope for up to 500 homes in Nottingham’s most exciting new residential neighbourhood. Phase 2 Trent Basin (31 homes) is currently under construction.
