Meet the Yorkshire trio helping SMEs access 24/7 business support
A business support network launched in February by three Yorkshire entrepreneurs is celebrating after passing 1,250 members.
Gary King, Mike Hall and Clare Taylor teamed up to create Business Squad on Facebook and help Yorkshire firms weather the difficult early years of trading.
The trio represent business strategy and mentoring company Tendo, marketing consultancy ThinkSMART and admin support company Your Hidden Gem.
With Business Squad, group members post questions and receive support from like-minded businesspeople, who offer advice or share their own experiences.
Members are predominantly from Yorkshire, but the group’s founders said it is gaining traction nationally and internationally.
Co-founder Gary said: “Following research we carried out, we felt that SMEs needed a lifeline to improve their chances of success, so we wanted to provide 24/7 support for them to prosper and not feel so alone.
“Over 86% of business owners that we spoke to didn’t feel they have a work/life balance with nearly a third saying they were losing sleep with concerns over cashflow.”
On the back of Business Squad’s growth, its co-founders now run two support bootcamps annually, covering topics including developing a business model, creating a marketing plan and outsourcing admin tasks like admin.
